One of my most popular packages is my Baby’s First Year package. Babies change so much in the first year of their life, and this is the perfect way to capture all of those changes. For just $249, you get three sessions over the first year (birth, 6-month, and 1-year). With each of those sessions, you get a free 5×7 or 5×5 print, and at the end, you get a printed collage of your three favorite images. For just $99 you can add additional sessions throughout the year in case you want to get the 3-month and 9-month milestones as well–or anything else for that matter. Of course, I have birth announcements and albums as well.

Here’s a framed collage that I recently put together for a family that I’ve been working with over the last year. Their little one was so much fun to work with over the year, and I know that this custom-framed piece will be a treasured family heirloom.

If you’re interested in scheduling at Baby’s First Year package, please let me know.

Have you ever gone in for a family portrait session and had kids that were uncooperative, or someone who just doesn’t have the right expression? It happens VERY frequently and can be frustrating when you’ve chosen to invest in a family portrait. In many cases, through the magic of computer photo editing, we can take a face from another photo and put it in to make sure everyone has a good expression.

BUT sometimes, when the group is large, another option is going to be your best bet. For those situations, I’m offering my Composite Family package starting in 2011. In these packages, everyone is photographed individually and then the individual shots are combined together to form one perfect family photo. Here’s an example that I did with my family:

In this image, everyone (with the exception of my sister who is holding her daughter on the far left) was photographed separately.

These shoots can actually be quicker than a traditional session because most of the work is done beforehand in the planning and afterward in the editing. And the beauty of it is, we can even create different family groups from the shots that we take. So if my mom wanted a shot of just her and her four kids or just her and the grandkids, we could do that.

These sessions are available to book for $999, and that ENTIRE amount is given to you as a print credit. So, although you pay more upfront, you are essentially saving the $150 session fee. Please let me know if you’d like to schedule a session.

It was just a few weeks ago when Elizabeth and Patrick got married. It was an incredibly beautiful day for a wedding, and Elizabeth was a radiant bride who was obviously so thrilled that her wedding day had arrived. The ceremony was held at the beautiful St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on Wornall. And the reception was at the wonderful Congress Ballroom at the President Hotel. And if you’ve never heard of Jessica and Amy at Hitched Weddings + Events, you will soon. They not only did all of the flowers, but Jessica also served as the wedding coordinator. They had worked with a color palette inspired by the beauty of a peacock, and everything was just stunning! Be sure to check out their site for details on their services. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the beautiful program, table cards, and escort cards/menus were created by Megan at Little Yellow Leaf.

And here are some of the pictures of the day.

I have just uploaded the brand-spanking new 2011 Pricing Guide which you can access through this posting or through the Pricing link at the top of this page.

There are very few changes from 2010 with the exception of my session fees. Last year, I had different session fees based on where and when the session was held. I’ve done away with those and have gone to one simple fee of $150. I have also added a separate fee for people that are interested in holiday sessions. I do not guarantee that I will be available on holidays (I have to get some celebrating in, too, folks!), but when they are, the session fee will be $225. Holiday session fees will be charged during the following time periods:

May 27-31, 2011

July 1-5, 2011

September 2-6, 2011

November 23-27, 2011

December 18, 2011 through January 3, 2012

Weddings will have a 20% surcharge if they are held during these time periods.

Other than that, there is no increase in prices for the products that I offer for 2011, and I’ll be introducing some new products in the coming months!

I was a bit shocked when a friend of mine from high school called and asked if I could take her daughter’s senior pictures. It made me feel a little old (but not as old though as when I found out two years ago that a boy I grew up going to Sunday School with had become a grandfather at the age of 35, but that’s another story…)

I met Kelcie and her mom Karren at Loose Park this afternoon for some pictures. Kelcie was a terrific model and whipped out some poses that Tyra would be proud of. Here’s one of the early ones from our shoot. I can’t wait to see how the rest came out!

If you’ve been following me on Facebook (and really, why wouldn’t you be???), you’ll know that last week I was running a contest here on the blog. Anyone who left a comment on any of my posts was entered into a drawing to win a FREE photography session.

I was really pleased with how many people stopped by and left a message, but there can be only one winner (unless you count the pleasure of reading my witty writing to be a winning proposition…) And the winner is Tara Rezen. She’s a friend from a ways back and her kids modeled for me a couple of years ago when I was doing a Valentine’s Day promotion. Can’t wait to work with you again, Tara!

And here’s one of those shots from Valentine’s Day…

Corporate headshots may not be the most glamorous part of photography, but they ARE important. I was recently contacted by Rich Adams of Creative Accounting Solutions about doing some pictures of him that could be used on his new website and Linked In and other professional websites. I was happy to accommodate him, and in just a few minutes we were able to get several different looks.

This is the picture that Rich ended up choosing from our session, and I think it looks terrific (if I do say so myself). So, if your beans need counting, get in touch with Rich. If you need a new photo for your professional image, get in touch with me!
